The designer made Hepburn yet another memorable piece, playing off her classic beauty. The white gown was accented with beads and a subtle cutout tied together with a white bow. Pretty much, Hepburn made accented cutouts cool before they were a thing.

Designed by Bob Mackie, Pacula’s white and gold-stripped sequined gown was right off the rack from the designer’s spring collection. But paired with the puffy-sleeved yellow jacket, the look made Oscar history.

If the dress and white fur shawl weren’t enough, Madonna was dropped in millions of dollars worth of jewels. Her Harry Winston clustered-diamond platinum necklace was the accessory of the night.
